The objective of this game is to be the first player to reach 500 points, which is generally achieved over multiple rounds by being the first to play all of one's own cards and scoring points based on the cards remaining in opponents' hands.

The game comprises a deck of 108 cards, divided into four color suits—red, yellow, green, and blue—each containing one zero, two each of the numbers 1 through 9, as well as two each of action cards: "Skip," "Draw Two," and "Reverse." Additionally, the deck includes four "Wild" cards and four "Draw Four" cards.

At the start, each player is dealt seven cards. During a player's turn, they must perform one of the following actions:

• Play a card matching the top discard by color, number, or symbol
• Play a Wild or Draw Four card
• Draw the top card from the deck and, if possible, play it

Explanation of special cards:

• Skip card: The next player in sequence misses their turn.
• Reverse card: The order of play reverses direction (clockwise to counterclockwise or vice versa).
• Draw Two (+2): The next player draws two cards and misses their turn.
• Wild: The player declares the next color to be matched; it can be played on any turn regardless of the player's current hand.
• Draw Four (+4): The player declares the next color; the subsequent player draws four cards and misses their turn.

If a player fails to call "Mau" either before or immediately after laying down their penultimate card (double tapping on their score), and is caught before the next player completes their turn (either by playing a card, drawing from the deck, or touching the discard pile), they must draw two penalty cards. If an opponent notices that a player has not called "Mau," they can double tap on that player's score to impose the penalty.
